The Government has postponed the new regulation which forces all homeowners to have a completed Home Information Pack (HIP) in place before their homes can legally go on sale.
The proposal was due to take effect from 1st June 2008, exactly a year after the Government first made HIPs compulsory on larger homes. Now this has been moved back to 31st December 2008 before it becomes an offence to put a home on the market without a HIP being available to potential buyers on the first day of marketing. Currently homes can go on sale as long as the owner has applied for a HIP. |
